Sandvik wins large order for battery-electric mining equipment in Canada
Sandvik has secured a significant new contract to supply battery-electric mining vehicles to Canadian gold producer Eldorado Gold for use at its Lamaque underground mine in Val-d’Or, Québec.
The order, worth approximately SEK 160 million, was recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025. It covers a range of battery-electric trucks and loaders and builds on an earlier SEK 65 million BEV order placed by Eldorado Gold during the third quarter of the year.
Deliveries are scheduled to start in mid-2026 and will extend through 2027. Once the new equipment is in operation, the number of Sandvik battery-electric machines at the Lamaque mine will increase from just two units to a total of twelve.
According to Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining, the expanded order reflects the strong performance of Sandvik’s electric vehicles in underground conditions. He noted that the company is pleased to deepen its collaboration with Eldorado Gold and contribute to the miner’s goals of improving productivity, enhancing worker safety, and reducing environmental impact.
